IGNITE THE PASSION, BLAZE THE PATH

"EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD." -Nelson Mandela

Felicia Rodrigues, CEO and Lead Educator. Her dream of being a teacher stemmed from going to school in Mississauga, Ontario. She is one of the rare professionals who not only owns and runs her educational program but also builds it entirely from the ground up. Felicia spent 15 years abroad, teaching in South Korea, Taiwan, and Spain. During this time, she worked with prestigious institutions, including international schools, as well as the Ontario Board of Education. When she returned to Canada, she recognized an urgent need to support students who were falling behind academically and to prepare them for the challenges of future grades.

"Our students are our future. We must provide all learners and educators with the same high-quality education that is often reserved for private schools," says Felicia.

At Athena's Learning Centre, we stand by our mantra: "Ignite the Passion, Blaze the Path." This belief defines my approach to online education. Athena leverages a rich blend of traditional and modern teaching techniques, from Socratic questioning to project-based learning, to create an engaging and stimulating environment for every student.

Over the past six years, she has successfully guided countless students to achieve their academic goals, from excelling in demanding courses to gaining admission to top universities worldwide. Our success is a testament to our profound knowledge of educational best practices and our dedication to unlocking the full potential of every student who is served.

What influenced you to become a teacher?

When I was a shy little girl, I had a teacher who intimidated and humiliated me in front of my classmates. I hated that feeling and made a promise to myself that I would one day create a safe and welcoming learning environment for children. As I grew older (12 years old), my father took me on a trip to India to help me understand and appreciate the life we were blessed with in Canada. That journey changed my perspective. My passion for helping others was ignited when I witnessed the struggles of poverty-stricken children who were denied the opportunity to attend school and build a brighter future. This experience broadened my vision and strengthened my resolve. I volunteered with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets to gain hands-on experience, develop leadership skills, and find my voice. Through this, my confidence grew, and I became determined to be a positive role model for others.

The Future Lies in the Hands of Our Children

From working over broad to here in Canada, I've concluded to provide high quality education that is offered to private and international schools to all learners no matter the finances. I firmly believe that everyone deserves the best education in order to have a positive and successful future.
